Rogers BlackBerry Pearl 8220

Rogers BlackBerry 8220 Pricing

Rogers BlackBerry 8220 Pricing

Rogers strikes again with some ridiculous pricing! Some images surfaced today from a Rogers add showing the up and coming BlackBerry Pearl 8220 (Kickstart) set at $149.99 with a 3-year contract. So much for a new affordable BlackBerry to pull in those non-berry users. We previously speculated a $50 dollar price point on a 3-year contract, looks like we seriously miss calculated. The community isn’t too happy about this news and I think a lot of Canadians aren’t too happy with Rogers anymore. Rogers is making Verizon look like a bargain! Hopefully this price makes a quick drop to a respectable $79 or at least a $99 price point. Images after the jump.

BlackBerry Touch Is Storm; For Verizon

BlackBerry Storm Watch

BlackBerry Storm Watch

An amazing photo just leaked out onto the Internet (via Engadget). The seemed to have uncovered the Verizon BlackBerry 9500 box art!! This art clearly points at the Blackberry 9500 as the Verizon BlackBerry Storm. We knew the change was coming for a little while now. Back near the beginning of August, other speculations we’re flying around about RIM dropping the “Thunder” name and going with the Storm. Well according to Engadget, that’s only partly the case.

More info about the Verizon BB Storm and the box art after the jump. Read More…

Mobile Browser Stats

Mobile Browser Stats

Mobile Browser Stats

Some slightly sad news came out yesterday about Blackberry users and they’re mobile browsers. Us BB users ranked in 7th in mobile browser usage across the board. This isn’t terribly surprising thought; coming on, do you really use/like your standard BB browser? I don’t really use my BB browser unless absolutely necessary. Realizing this, I’m sure a good most of those Opera Mini percents should be added to the BlackBerry stat. Not to mention other full html browser downloads out there which aren’t counted.

WorldMate Live

WorldMate Live

In the past few years with the release of the 8800’s, the Pearl, and recently the Curve its easy to see that BlackBerry’s aren’t only for the stuffy business guys walking around New York and D.C. BlackBerry’s have developed into a top notch smartphone with all the function of a business phone and all the style of a media phone. With this in mind we can’t forget where the BlackBerry got its start and that does happen to be in the realm of big business. Weather you are one of those business guys that need your BlackBerry for work or one of the thousands of non-business BlackBerry users; WorldMate Live is an application you just can’t pass up.

Bold Unboxing

BlackBerry Bold Unboxing

BlackBerry Bold Unboxing

The BlackBerry Bold finally dropped for Rogers (Canada); well sort of. Rogers did start offering the all new RIM smartphone on Thursday, August 21 online, but we’ve heard lots of community stories already about customers dropping into Rogers stores and leaving unsatisfied. It seems the shipments of Bolds to all the Rogers stores were slightly delayed (expected to be just a shipping error). This does happen from time to time in the world of new releases, but it’s a little sad to see since this phone has been in the works for almost 3 years now. Thankfully the great guys over at Crackberry got they’re hands on a Rogers BlackBerry Bold right on schedule and did a nice little video unboxing for everyone to see. Video after the jump!!

More On Bold Pricing

Bold Non-Contract Pricing

Bold Non-Contract Pricing

If you’ve seen the latest numbers for the Bold, you’re probably a little frustrated at the extra bit of money you were trying to save. We all had really hoped for that $299 price tag that would have made it some serious competition for the iPhone. This $399 price point one Rogers network isn’t something to push those true BerryAdictics away, but it will be a little tougher to bring in that younger crowd that’s getting sucked into the colorful (without substance) iPhone. If you’re not ready to chain yourself to a 3-year contract to the “Big Red Machine” that is Rogers, then I hope you wallet isnt shy about a fairly large amount of cash.

$1 BlackBerrys!! What?

$1 BlackBerrys

$1 BlackBerrys

That’s right, pick up a smartphone that looks just like a BlackBerry 7210 for just a dollar. Did we say “smartphone”, we meant smartphone candy dispenser. 🙂 Sorry to get your hopes up, but I thought it’s funny how much the smartphone is truly a symbol, something that even children want to imitate. Well if you couldn’t tell this week, with the exception of OS 4.5’s release, has been pretty slow in terms of BlackBerry news. Look for more news coming tomorrow and have a great Friday!! Images of candy dispenser after the Jump
