BlackBerry “X” For Dummies

BlackBerry Thunder For Dummies

We’re all familiar with the ” ________ for Dummies” on going grip on written tutorials, but I never realized how ahead of the game Robert Kao and the rest of their writing staff really is. The BlackBerry community has known for quite awhile about the soon to come BlackBerry 9500 (Storm); apparently the guys at “for Dummies” have known about it too and might even be testing models of the Storm as we speak.

I stumbled upon the Barnes&Noble website while scouring the Internet for any possible news on the BlackBerry Storm. At first I was really excited to see this book and its inevitable release, but then i thought about it for a little bit and I’m a little confused by it now. Yes we know that the 9500 is coming out, yes we know a lot of the specs for it, but we’ve yet to see any videos or any live shots (even test models) of this phone in the wild. I guess I’m just a little surprised that RIM gave the guys at Wiley, John & Sons, Incorporated (the books publisher) a sneak preview or possibly even a test model to play around with. It seems this must be the case considering the books release date of October 27, 2008 and the expected release date of the BlackBerry 9500 on October 8, 2008; unless Mr. Kao is brilliant enough to write a whole book of “how to’s” in less than 3 weeks.

We’re pretty sure BlackBerry had strayed from the name “Thunder” and gone with the BlackBerry Storm (works better for advertising) and it looks like, till they get an official word, the title of the book is “BlackBerry “X” For Dummies”. Most of you out there, in the tech community, wont need anything like this to help you figure out how to use your Storm (if you’re like me, it comes naturally); but this does almost solidify an October 8th release date!!
